Carbon steel blade
Knife blade of high carbon steel can be hardened to HRC 59-60 giving best possible sharpness to lowest price. Knives made from above mentioned steel grades will after some use achieve a dullish grey finish. However, this will not negatively affect the quality of the blade. On the contrary it will somewhat improve the resistance to corrosion. In order to prevent rust, make sure you put the knife away clean and dry. To best corrosive resistance apply a thin coat of oil on the blade as soon, as possible.

A reliable companion
I used this knife for some time now and it never let me down. I did use it for various preparations during project #afireaday and I have to confess, I wasn't exactly nice to it. I cut a lot, used it for batoning, scratching ferro rods and pushed it around in sandy and rocky environments.
Of course, the coating has a few scratches now, but that only proves that it's actually used.
The grind makes it very easy to resharpen and the sharp spine helps with producing extra fine wood shavings as well as scratching fire steels.
This knife will definitely come with me on a lot more outdoor adventures. The only downsinde is a personal one. I just love big and heavy blades and this one is very light and easy to handle. Aside from this personal preference there's nothing that won't work the way that it should. If you count in the price, it's a no-brainer. Get yourself one of those.

Zadeva je sledeča: nož sem kupil, da imam alternativo Cold steelovemu SRK-ju, ki ga nerad posojam, in ker sem imel priliko sem ga še temeljito stestiral. V 4 dneh sem z njim postavil 3 bivake iz naravnih materialov, odprl nekaj konzerv in skopal 3 ognjišča, ter počel še raznorazne malenkosti . Estetsko nož ni nek presežek, vendar je več kot funkcionalen in uporaben za večino opravil na kampiranju/survival izletih. Karbonska scandi-grind klina prevlečena z (neznanim) črnim premazom proti rjavenju, ki se sčasoma (zelo počasi) zdrgne s kline je dovolj velika za skoraj vsa bushcraft in survival dela, vendar pa ji manjka par centimetrov in nekaj mase, če se nož uporablja za zaseke pri postavljanju bivaka iz naravnih materialov. Nož je v osnovi dovolj oster vendar pa par potegov po zelo finem brusnem kamnu z lahkoto pripravi nož do britvene ostrine, čeprav to ni potrebno. Jeklo je dovolj trdno da se pri prebadanju pločevine in konzerv konica ne odlomi, vendar pa tudi dovolj prožno, da lahko z nožem delamo preproste vzvode in z lahkoto prenese bočno obremenitev +/- 400N. Nož je s primerno opremo izjemno preprosto nabrusiti, kar je bilo tudi potrebno po 4 dneh intenzivne uporabe na survival kampiranju. Preprostost ročaja je nožev največji plus saj omogoča široko paleto različnih prijemov, tako za delo kot za borbo, prav tako pa je prijetno gumiran in ne drsi tudi z zelo mokrimi rokami in v dežju. Edini minus noža je nožnica, ki sicer zavaruje nož in omogoča njegovo nošnjo vendar pa še zdaleč ni tako vsestranska kot bi lahko bila in je včasih bolj v oviro kot v pomoč. Ker je nož narejen iz karbonskega jekla sem ga preventivno mazal z Balistolom, s čimer sem preprečil rjavenje, kljub temu da je bil pomočen v morsko vodo, vendar pa zaradi tega noža ni ravno zdravo uporabljati pri pripravi hrane. V končni fazi je nož za svojo ceno vrhunski, drži ostrino dovolj dolgo in je dovolj vzdržljiv, vendar pa mu do popolnosti manjkata bolj vsestranska nožnica (Kydex ali vsaj nekaj kompatibilno z MOLLE sistemom) ter kakšen centimeter ali dva rezila ter nekaj mase. Priporočam ga, vendar pa odvisno od vaših potreb dodajte še sekiro in zaščitno sredstvo (Balistol, silikonsko olje) za rezilo.
